At 28 years old, I am a real estate professional who has owned, operated and sold two retail businesses. As I changed up my professional life (and started selling real estate), I decided that my whole life needed a bit of “sprucing up.” As you may know, retail doesn’t leave a lot of room for hours in the gym, and my body was suffering the effects of long hours, fast food and little sleep. Selling real estate has been a blessing because although my hours are still long, I can sneak to the gym and get a workout in between client appointments. I am able to pack a healthy lunch, and I try my best to get ample rest. Being in the gym, I met a few girls who were figure competitors. I watched their workout routines and listened to their diet drama, and thought, “hm, I wonder if I could do that?”… Being a former college athlete, I knew I could pull off the workouts, but the diet would be difficult. Although I was eating cleaner, I was still cheating heavily (and I mean HEAVILY) on the weekends. So, I began training for my first competition.
I competed in the Northern KY before I met Julie, and it was a disaster. After working with Julie, I gained the mass I needed to compete in figure, while going from 23% bodyfat to 11.5% bodyfat in about 10 weeks. I ended up placing 3rd in a very competitive class at the NPC Kentucky Muscle!
I was featured in the Beverly International No Nonsense Magazine!!!
I mentioned my bodyfat above (which I am totally proud of), but my favorite transformation is FINALLY GETTING SHOULDER CAPS! My shoulders were always on the scrawny side, but after my 12 weeks with Julie, they are finally bigger and well defined.
What I love most about fitness is that it helps me unwind. I am a VERY high energy individual, and working out allows me to channel my energy. I love the way I look when I’m fit, and it helps me carry myself with confidence, which carries over into my professional life.
I would love to continue to compete in Figure and maybe even try my hand at Fitness!
I’m motivated to maintain a healthy lifestyle because of the obesity that is rampant in my family. Both my mother’s side, as well as my father’s side of the family suffers from obesity. When I see how the quality of life is negatively affected (heart disease, diabetes, struggle getting around) by an UNhealthy lifestyle, I am readily reminded to keep up my hard work.
The best part of working with Julie is that she is an active listener. She doesn’t let my questions/concerns go by the wayside, ever. She considers each issue that I bring to her, and thinks it over. She played an active part in every area I needed.
Although I was able to email or call Julie when I needed her, I wish I could have just put her in my back pocket and had her with me everywhere I went. It seems like questions come up at the strangest of times- Julie, you need an “Ask Julie” iPhone app lol!
My favorite diet food is a toss up between a sweet potato and a Muscle Provider protein brownie YUM YUM YUM!
Julie deserves every pat on the back she gets. She goes above and beyond. I will never work with another trainer, and I have worked with several before working with Julie.
