    Personal Information

    I am 90 days away from being 50 years old….yes, I’m counting down and looking so forward to the day I can say “Yes, I’ m 50”.  I work part-time as an RN, have a fabulous husband, Mark, and we have 3 great kids, a super son-in-law and a 4 year old grandson who will be the President one day.

    I started training online with Julie 18 months ago (January 2012)-best fitness decision I have ever made and plan to continue as long as she will train me!  When I’m not lifting or doing cardio I enjoy travel, reading and LOVE to cook!  I truly find relaxation in my beautiful kitchen creating all types of meals, the good, the bad and the ugly. One of my favorite things to do is take a recipe that my husband has found and make it healthy, or has he says “Linda-this-up”.

    What are your greatest fitness accomplishments so far?

    Finishing!  No matter what it is, a race or a figure competition, finishing is the greatest accomplishment for me.  I have run Chicago marathon, half-marathons as well as several 5 and 10K races.

    Between my May 2012 and October 2012 shows I became ill and ended up having my gallbladder out and diagnosed with several digestive disorders and worked my behind off, bound and determined to compete in all shows I had committed too and with Julie’s help I did it!!!! Since then my prep for Masters Nationals has been the best so far!

    WHAT CHANGES HAVE YOU SEEN & WHAT HAS HELPED YOU MAKE THE TRANSFORMATION?

    When I look back and see the physical changes I made, I am so excited; knowing now that the scale is just a tool and does not define you in figure. When I look back at my journals and see how much stronger I have gotten and the change in the weights I lift just makes me thrilled! It has helped that I did not have a lot of “extra” body fat to lose, but I would like to say I have lost over 50 lbs. and have kept it off for over 20 years now.

    Training with Julie has helped me the most!  Her workouts and diet information are so easy to follow and her motivation just keeps me moving forward.  She personalizes each and every workout to my specific goals, changes them when needed…she’s the best!

    Of course the support of my husband, could not put in all the work without his support.
    Also this prep I have been working with a partner to spot me, which has been huge on lifting heavy safely and motivation as well.

    What do you enjoy most about fitness?

    Feeling strong!  Lifting weights is the best medicine!  It gives me more energy and makes me proud that at my age I can do what I do!

    What are your fitness goals?

    To continue!  Remain injury free, compete and do MY best.  I may not be the one the judges are looking at for number one right now but I know I am giving it my all and am the BEST ME I can be when I step on that stage.  Am so looking forward to building more muscle, seeing changes and competing in May of 2014 and again in Masters National.

    What motivates you to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

    The challenge!  I have been a vegetarian for over 20 years, which proves to be quite a challenge in getting in all required protein, also eating gluten free, but with Julie’s suggestions I am able to get it all in! For those who have told me a vegetarian cannot compete in figure, well HA, guess again.  Although, for my 2014 prep I have added organic, hormone, antibiotic free chicken breast into my diet.   Being a good example for my kids and grandkids keeps me motivated as well.  Seeing other women my age compete and do well also helps.

    What is the best part about working with Julie?

    Where to start?  She is so motivating and treats you like you are her only client!  She is so personable and honest.  She gives you the “high five” when you deserve it as well as a gentle kick in the butt when needed as well. Her training programs are so easy to follow; it’s like the best road map to get you where you need to be!  I truly cannot imagine ever training without her.  The changes I have and will make are because of her knowledge.

    What is the worst part about working with Julie?

    She lives in the wrong state!!!  Wish she lived closer because I would love to meet with her in person, although she answers EVERY email, and trust me, I send a lot of them, and phone calls are so nice but still, it would be nice to be able to train with her in person.

    Favorite 'diet' food:

    A total no brainer…..UMP and Oats!  LOVE them!!!!!
