Tell us about yourself!

I have been married for 21 years to Ron and we have 2 boys..Nick (17) and Andrew (13).  I am a Registered Dietitian with a private practice in my hometown of Orchard Park. I love to be active and busy!

Before choosing Julie Lohre as your virtual body transformation coach, what did you try to help you reach your fitness goals?

In the past, I had always used diet and exercise as a tool to either lose weight loss or to maintain the weight I wanted to be at. I played with the macros of my nutrition a lot. I tried pretty much everything from low carb and high fat diets to super low calories. There was a period where I tried intermittent fasting, but I found that I felt light headed in the periods where you are not supposed to eat and famished during the feeding windows. Things that I tried would work for a bit… until they stopped working. I felt caught in a cycle and overwhelmed by all of the info out there.

After hitting 45, I felt though like nothing was working for me! It had to be because my metabolism was sluggish and not cooperating after all of the highs and lows of playing with diet. At the time, I did not realize it, but looking back, the cycles of calorie restriction and over exercise followed by times of over eating and being sedentary had really taken a toll. I lost muscle, my energy took a nose dive, and I started packing on weight, especially in my stomach.

How did you come to find online body transformation coach for women, Julie Lohre?

This was a time when I was looking for a goal to accomplish. I had previously competed ages ago and though that might be a fun goal to try now. So, I started searching and asking friends. I first read about Julie online when I was searching for a women to help me prepare for a bikini show. I really wanted to find a certified body transformation coach that had lots of experience with both nutrition and exercise in addition to a solid background on the competition front.

Instagram is filled with so called ‘coaches’ with tens of thousands of followers that had maybe competed one time, posted their bikini photos, and then called themselves ‘experts’. I wanted a professional that would take their time with me, be responsive, and not be overly absorbed by their own needs. I also wanted to work with a mature woman who could help me navigate making a realistic transformation now that I was in my mid 40’s. Julie credential and background ticked all of the boxes for me. She had competed herself 25 times in the world’s largest shows, worked with ONLY women for more than 15 years so she knew the specific needs of women, and she was not competing herself now, but running her business and taking care of women directly. That made a huge difference in the amount of time she was able to spend coaching me.

What really made me decide to go for it and choose Julie as my coach is that I would be working directly with her as my body transformation coach. She doesn’t pawn you off on an assistant or newbie coach. I literally talked to her over the phone and every email I sent was answered directly by her. Seriously 1:1 personal attention. That has made all the difference!

What were your fitness goals when you choose to begin working with a body transformation coach?

When I first started this journey, my original plan was to get back up on stage for another competition.  I talked with Julie and she developed individualize training and nutrition plans to help me begin to add muscle as I lost bodyfat. I knew my metabolism needed a pick me up and it was pretty amazing how quickly my body responded to the programs she created for me.

About 4 months into our coaching together, I felt soooo good! I had more energy than every and my body was really getting tighter and leaner. New muscles were popping up and the weight that I was able to lift steadily increased. I could not believe how good my body was looking. It was at that point that I had an epiphany… I did NOT need to step on stage again to prove anything to myself. I could lose weight and gain muscle for a total body transformation with a lifestyle that was maintainable for the long run. I felt a kind of balance that I had not felt before and it has been amazing to see how my body is changing. I am comfortable in my own skin now and so strong!

What were your concerns when you first considered virtual body transformation coaching?

My initial concern with a virtual body transformation program was that I would not have that face to face accountability I thought I would need.  I wasn’t sure how an online program would really help keep me accountable. After reading and re-reading the reviews from Julie’s past clients, I decided that I could do it too.  The clients seemed very satisfied and successful.  That was all I needed to make the jump.

What was the hardest part of your 6 month body transformation?

The hardest part  my 6 month body transformation was keeping a positive outlook on those weeks that “something” came up.  In the past, I tended to have an all or nothing mindset and if things did not go as I planned, I was thrown off track for the whole day. For example, when there was stress at work, I would end up skipping lunch and then way overeating my dinner. Or when there was a week where I saw minimal body changes or weight loss despite the hard work I would use it as an excuse to overeat.

Through training with Julie though, I learned that I could have an off plan meal or miss a single without guilt provided I got back on track with the next choice. It was a hard mental shift to make! Then, once I reached that 6 month body transformation and I lost 40 lbs, finding the focus again to continue with the journey can be a struggle.

How do you feel about your body and your fitness now?

It really is incredible how amazing I feel!  I thought I had lost the old me, but I truly feel like myself again… actually feel better than the old me.  This is definitely the best I have ever been mentally and physically.  I never went a day “hangry” which was a total relief coming off calorie deprivation from past body building shows.
