Personal Information

I’ve been obese since I was 6 years old. I’ve always struggled with weight, and spent many years yo-yo dieting and never finding lasting success. I found myself at a point binge eating, secret eating and at my highest weight and unhappiest self.  I decided to I need to make a change without diets, that was 6.5 years ago and I’m currently down 117 pounds.

I’ve also worked in radio for 20 years and currently host the afternoon show on B105 in Cincinnati.

Transformation Info

Down 117 pounds and maintained in 6.5 years. Not only a physical change, but a mental change as well. I went from being the glass is half empty girl to the glass is half full.

What motivated you to get started on your fitness journey?

I was tired of not feeling like myself. I felt like my weight held me back from living the life I wanted to live. I learned from my previous dieting mistakes and decided to make small goals and to make the best decisions I could for myself in every moment.

What motivates you to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

The way I feel is a huge motivator. I feel happy, energized and healthy. I know what it feels like to not be those things…and I don’t want to go back.

What role does fitness play in your life?

I love exercising! I never would have predicted that for myself…I took extra band classes in high school just to avoid PE. Now I love hitting the gym almost every day and lifting.

What unique challenges have you faced in reaching your fitness goals?

I work in a business where delicious free food is everywhere daily. It’s also a very sedentary lifestyle…lots of sitting. It was a challenge learning to say no and to also not give in to peer pressure “Oh come on…one donut won’t hurt!”

How do you stay motivated?

I love tracking my progress. Seeing my lifts increase and my photos reflecting that is super exciting for me. I feel in control of my body now.

How do you balance nutrition and clean eating? Favorite clean eating foods or recipes?

I always try to be prepared. Meal prepping is huge for me. But also allowing myself the freedom to indulge too…sometimes you just need a piece of cheesecake!

What does a typical workout look like for you?

I do a 5 minute warm up/stretch then I tend to do body part splits…so let’s say chest and shoulders. Then I do 10-15 minutes of cardio and some ab exercises.

I also really love hiking, and will jump at any opportunities to take my cardio outside.

As for my favorite body part to train, I really love shoulders…I think it’s because I can watch them work. Lateral raises are my jam.

Favorite Healthy Recipe?

I really love egg muffins…

  • 3 cups mixed vegetables (broccoli, mushrooms, peppers, spinach etc)
  • 1 teaspoon Spike seasoning
  • 12 large eggs (or egg whites)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 350°F.

  • Spray a muffin tin very well with cooking spray.
  • Divide the vegetables and cheeses over 12 wells.
  • In a large bowl combine eggs and seasonings. Mix well.
  • Pour eggs evenly over each well. Bake 22-25 minutes or until set.
  • Remove from cups and serve warm or let cool completely and refrigerate/freeze.
