Fit Body Mom of 4, Brenda Arms finds that she does not need to eat a crazy low carb diet to get the tight, defined body of her dreams! With her online training transformation, she is eating more, working out smarter and loving life with her husband and kids!
I have a wonderful husband Adam Arms, 4 amazing children and an adorable grandson. In the past I would try different diets, low carb/high protein to try to lose weight. I tended to lose it for a bit and gain it back. I decided in March that I was ready to make change. I wanted to compete in a figure competition so I started to work with Julie Lohre in her Figure Competition Training Program.
I was able to get ready in 12 weeks for that competition and after the show decided to continue working with Julie to help me achieve my longer term goals. I still work with Julie a year later. My goal was to get in the best shape of my life and be healthy. It has been a great year, I can finally eat carbs and feel wonderful.
What are your greatest fitness accomplishments so far?
My greatest accomplishment so far, is my total body transformation in just 12 weeks with the help and guidance of Julie Lohre.

In my 1st 8 weeks of online personal training with Julie, I lost 11 pounds and 1 ½ “off of my hips. I signed up for a second 8 weeks and lost another 3 pounds. On top of all of that, I improved my mile time and increased my strength lifting weights.

What role does fitness play in your life?
Fitness helps built my self-confidence. It helps with my marriage as Adam and I work out together. He is able to help me with workouts I struggle with and holds me accountable if I am not pushing myself.
What motivates you to lead a healthy lifestyle?
I am motivated by seeing the results and finally feeling good about myself. I am amazed at the progress I have had in such a short amount of time. This motivates me to become better every day and challenge myself. It is also helpful my husband works out with me. He helps keep me motivated as well.
For staying motivated day to day, I set goals for myself. Each time I reach a goal, I set a new one. This keeps me motivated seeing progress every week in my strength.
What unique challenges have you faced in reaching your fitness goals?
My unique challenges were psychological beliefs about how much weight I could lift. Before working with Julie, I did not push myself before and did not improve. Now, I have the confidence to push hard with each workout and know that by lifting heavier, I won’t get bulky, but rather will get stronger! Getting stronger was something new to me.
What are your fitness goals?
My goals are to continue working out and eating healthy. I want to improve on areas of my body that still need some improvement. I would like to compete again next year in another figure competition.

This complete journey has been amazing. Julie Lohre puts together my meal plans with plenty of variety. I never get tired of the food, and it is easy to substitute other foods in. I eat more food, and weigh less. The workouts are very challenging. If I ever have a question, Julie always responds immediately. Julie is very upbeat and genuinely cares about the people she is training. She is the most uplifting positive person I know.

How do you balance nutrition and clean eating? Favorite clean eating foods or recipes?
The meal plans Julie Lohre in the online personal training program provides make balancing nutrition easy. I follow her meal plan and the macros and calories she lines out for me. I always prep my meals the night before. When I leave the house I always have several of my meals with me so I never run out. Being prepared makes a huge difference!
For clean eating and healthy recipes, I am addicted to Julie’s Chocolate Chip Protein Cookies
- 1 scoop Beverly International Ultimate Muscle Protein
- ¼ c Ground Almond Meal
- ½ c Whole Wheat Flour
- ¼ oz Dark Chocolate Chips
- 2 Egg Whites
Mix all together add a little water and bake and 350 for 8 min. These are amazing! Better than store bought cookies!
