I began working with Julie Lohre in her Online Contest Prep program when I was 12 weeks out from my first Bikini Show.  Over the course of my bikini show prep lost almost 11% body fat and gained muscle especially in my shoulders and legs.  When the show came, I was completely prepared and confident.  AND I ended up winning my first bikini competition.  It was amazing!

What motivates you to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

Having a baby made me much more aware that my decisions influence not only my own body but now my daughter’s. Even if I gave her healthy options and enrolled her in physical activities, she will still mimic what she sees me do, especially at this age. I loved doing my home workouts and having her right by my side doing squats, burpees and her hilarious version of push-ups.

What do you enjoy the most about fitness?

I enjoy seeing the changes that your everyday decisions make to your body. Whether it be lifting heavy consistently in the gym to gain muscle or eating a diet rich in vitamins and minerals to feel more energized and focused.

What unique challenges have you faced in reaching your fitness goals?

Fitness should always be fun and never a chore that it becomes a job. I feel like the challenges that I have faced with reaching my fitness goals would be not setting enough time aside for self care and allowing myself time to sleep. With the lack of sleep I’ve experienced burn out and the recovery needed to happen. So many times we think we have to be the energizer bunny on full speed every day, but we don’t. Listening to our body is very important to get all that you need to keep that focus on the goal you set out to achieve.

What is the best part about working with Julie Lohre?

Julie Lohre has walked me through every step of competing in my first bikini competition. Since I had never attempted it before or known anyone who had, this was very helpful to have her help. Without her bikini tips and teaching I would have been lost.

What is the worst part about working with Julie Lohre?

Probably that she is so encouraging haha!  Typically this wouldn’t be a bad thing but she convinced me that I could do things I never thought possible. This has only given me the confidence to continue on and accomplish more. It would be easier to be done with competing, sit on the couch and eat whatever I wanted but now I want to challenge myself to be even better than last season.

How do you balance nutrition and clean eating? Favorite clean eating foods or recipes?

I am a pescetarian which means most of my protein comes from seafood, eggs, dairy and of course UMP protein powder. My favorite meals would be a protein waffle for breakfast, greek yogurt for a snack, tilapia and mixed veggies for lunch, apple slices and peanut butter for a snack, shrimp tacos for dinner and protein pudding before bed.

What does a typical workout look like for you?

I typically get to the gym around 5 am and meet up with my workout partner. If it wasn’t for her I would probably miss half of my workouts. She did every one of the workouts Julie Lohre provided me with right along with me and motivated me to add more weight and finish a workout I might have quit early if I was by myself.

What advice do you have for women that are thinking about competing in a bikini competition?

I would suggest not even considering it unless you have a good support system. It is definitely possible to compete all on your own  but it would be much easier and less stressful with people behind you cheering you on.
