TELL US MORE ABOUT YOU
I am a strong 54 year old woman from Puerto Rico who came to USA in 1994. I am the mom of 2 grown children, 3 grown stepchildren along with my Chihuahua and 15 Chickens! My goal was to become truly fit over 50!
I worked for over 9 years as an Extruder Operator while living in OH, but found the time to hit the gym occasionally. I’m currently a Master Hose Technician and have been able to add more gym time ever since. By chance in 2012 and in my mid 40’s, I saw a Pole Academy and decided to “try it out for fun” thinking it was going to be “go-go bar” twirling around a pole. I was 100% wrong, as this place was all about how to be fit while using a Pole!!!
This led me to train more my UpperBody and Core like never before. In 2014, while training to compete at a pole organization event, I decided to do a Spartan Race Super which is significantly longer and more difficult than a regular Spartan Race with 25 obstacles over 10 kilometers. Not knowing at all what it was, I initially though I would be running around a park going over logs, swing sets and hanging at the monkey bars. Well, I was +100% wrong!!! It was incredibly challenging and the obstacles pushed me to my limits.
Although I barely could walk for over 1 week, I did very well at most obstacles, thanks to my upper body strength. I got hooked into Obstacle Racing and ended doing a Spartan Trifecta (Open Division)that year. With my eye toward really becoming fit at 50, this led me shake up my fitness round and begin adding in more functional / mobility training.
In 2015, I enrolled in Spartan Race Competitive Division earning 3 Trifectas. This same year, I took “a dare” from my hubby to do a Bikini Body event and ended up qualifying to compete in Nationals for the Masters 45+ division. I ended doing 2 Bikini Body events. But Obstacle Racing was “my true calling”.
In 2016, I earned Championships Spartan Coin by competing in the World Championships in Lake Tahoe, and then finished a Spartan Ultra the following day. That same year, I added other Obstacle Races like SavageRace, BoneFrog, RuggedManiac…and completed a Marathon. My maximum of same year Spartan Trifecta’s had been 6, plus all other Obstacle Races. I’ve Qualify to all OCR Championships but I’ve not participate it in any…yet but I set my sights to fit over 50.
Here comes 2020, where I was able to do a winter series Spartan Race right before the year closed down on all of us. I was blessed to have a place to ramp up my Training, but all OCR’s were still Closed. I’ve decided to try once again Bikini Body Fitness Competitions with the goal of conquering Nationals!
WHAT THINGS HAPPENED THAT LED YOU TO WORKING WITH ONLINE FITNESS COACH, JULIE LOHRE?
What it came to my mind was “I wonder if this chick can make my skinny legs grow…”. It was like “it was meant to be” because I reached out to her right away and it was one of my best fitness decision I have ever made! Yes, Julie Lohre have made my legs and glutes grow!!! While also helping tighten and define my whole body unlike ever before… AND AT 54!!!
TELL US ABOUT THE PROGRESS YOU HAVE MADE IN YOUR JOURNEY TO BE TRULY FIT OVER 50
When I did my OCR training, I was about 129-131lbs. Although I was strong and fit, I did have bodyfat covering ab, glutes, and legs that I need it to take care of if I wanted to truly be fit over 50. Thanks to Julie Lohre’s meal plan and Beverly International Supplements along with balancing in really strong workouts, I am at 113-115lbs of lean muscle….including bigger legs!!! The great part is, I have been able to maintain my strength – or even get stronger – while getting competition lean.

Surprisingly, none! Once I set a goal, I’m so focus which makes me not to miss a favorite foods in my quest to be a fit over 50 female. I get a lot of compliments at work, my gym, my pole fitness classes…even my family and friends. Even my Chickens seem to have noticed how fit I am over 50!(lol!!)
