TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOU DELORA!
I am married to my wonderful supportive husband Nick and have 2 beautiful grown children Cory, 31 and Cami, 24. We have thoroughbred race horses we run mostly in Delaware and Maryland. I love visiting them at the barn and feeding them carrots.
Growing up with 2 brothers, I learn to play sports and was very competitive. I took gymnastics and played softball when I was younger. After getting married and having children, I started packing on a few pounds so I joined a gym and hired a personal trainer. I loved lifting weights and feeling strong and energetic, however, I wasn’t losing as much weight as I wanted.
I eventually had to learn how to eat better along with working out in order to lose weight and tighten up. You really need the total package in order to look and feel your best. My trainer told me I should set a goal like training for a fitness competition. I thought at the time he was crazy. I was around 42 at the time and thought I was way too old. He explained they have age groups. I could compete in masters over 40. So I did! It was a great experience and I’ve competed in many shows.
I am now 56 and haven’t competed in over 5 years. I had gone through menopause and had thyroid issues which kept me sidelined. After getting all that under control I wanted to try competing again to see if my post menopausal body could handle it. I now lived in a new area and wanted to find someone who was familiar with training along with diet and nutrition for competitions. I wanted someone who also new posing etc. In other words, I needed someone who knew their stuff!
After being a long time Beverly International fan, I knew of Julie Lohre from the articles in their magazine. I knew she was knowledgeable in all the areas I was looking for. So I contacting her on her website. It was the best decision I could have made!

WHAT UNIQUE CHALLENGES HAVE YOU FACED MAKING YOUR 50 YEAR OLD WOMAN BODY TRANSFORMATION?
I really was unsure about how my body would react to all the training and diet after being older and post menopausal. I think it handled it well!
WHEN YOU FIRST CONSIDERED ONLINE PERSONAL TRAINING WHAT CONCERNS DID YOU HAVE?
I had never had an online coach but wanted to give her a try. After emailing her, she contacting me to schedule a phone interview. I loved the fact that Julie herself was the one to call and talk to me. I knew after talking to her that we were a good fit and I wanted to give her a try.
TELL US THE SPECIFICS OF YOUR FITBODY TRANSFORMATION OVER 50
I was able to lean out and get in competition shape in just 14 weeks. I didn’t need to lose a lot of weight, just needed to re-composition it. Basically less fat and more muscle. It worked!!!

WHAT HAS BEEN THE HARDEST PART OF YOUR JOURNEY TO BE SUPER FIT OVER 55?
Diet! It’s always a challenge to cut back on all the carbs. Luckily I did not have to go too low though. Also, I was still able to have a cheat meal every week which was awesome!

I feel fantastic and fit just in time for summer! I can wear a bathing suit and tank tops with confidence! It feels nice to go to a department store and try on clothes and they all fit!
WHAT SUPPLEMENTS DID YOU USE DURING THE PROCESS?
- Fit Tabs 2 in the morning
- Ultra 40 3 tablets twice a day
- Density 3 tablets twice a day
- And my favorite protein powder Beverly International Ultimate Muscle Protein 2-3 scoops per day
WHAT IS THE BEST AND WORST PART ABOUT WORKING WITH JULIE LOHRE?
The kick ass workouts, the great new recipe’s and if I had a question, I could easily email Julie and she would get right back to me with the answer to my question. How about the worst? The kick ass workouts!!! No really, those were a love hate relationship that I learned to Love!

I will tell you, I thought I only needed Julie for my competition, but after it was all said and done (I placed 2nd in masters and 2nd in open by the way) I wanted to continue my training and diet her. I look forward to my workouts now! I can’t thank her enough for everything she done for me, my body and self esteem!

Fit Over 55 Workout
If you are a 50 year old woman ready to make a body transformation you have to balance training and nutrition. Strength training and exercise are important at any age, but particularly for women in our 50’s.
Can a 55 year old woman tone her body?
Yes! No matter where you are at in your 50’s, it is absolutely possible to tone and define your body. If you are new to exercise and have never worked out before this is going to be a journey that will take time. That said, with consistency you can and will see changes. The great news is, as you stay on track and make exercise a habit, not only will you see physical results, you will feel better, have great confidence and more energy! That is a win!
If you HAVE worked out when you were younger and want to get back to being fit over 55, I have great news as you work toward your 50 year old woman body transformation. It is a little thing called muscle memory. The muscle that you built when you were younger definitely makes a difference and will help you through this body transformation.
What is muscle memory and how does it help women over 55?
Even though it might not be your muscles themselves remembering something, muscles contain neurons which connect to your nervous system and those neurons are important for motor learning. Movement, like exercise and strength training, requires brain or neural activity. When you repeatedly perform a movement, even complex ones, triggers recognizable patterns in your brain regions responsible for motor skills. Thus leading to a learned motion that will require less brainpower in the future. When you begin doing those movements again, your muscles (or your brain) remembers and growth is stimulated. Like riding a bike, when you get back into the gym after some time off,
By stimulating muscle growth, a woman will see improvements in her metabolism, tone, and definition faster if she has been active in the past. Thank your younger self for all of the hard work and enjoy the benefits of previous activity, even into your 50’s, 60’s & beyond!
Fit Over 55 Workout Schedule

Monday – Glutes & Abs + 30 mins of cardio
Tuesday – Upper Body Straight Sets + 30 mins of cardio
Wednesday – Lower Body with Ab finisher
Thursday – OFF
Friday – Upper Body Straight Sets + 30 mins of cardio
Saturday – Legs & Ab Circuit + 30 mins of cardio
Sunday – No strength training, but 30-60 mins of cardio
With each workout, strength training was kept to 45-60 mins and often included flexibility and stretching.
