Personal Information

I am a mother of 2 beautiful adult girls (Kali and Lily) and a nana to the best grandson, Oliver. I am married to a wonderful husband, Chris. I have been very blessed that my family is supportive of my new fitness goals and future endeavors I have planned. I am getting ready to retire from my job with the state and am super pumped about this new chapter in my life!!! I do believe in staying humble and being kind to people, animals and the planet.

What has helped you become a fit grandma?

Simply, just to follow a meal plan and become more aware of what I am eating and how that affects me is a huge accomplishment for me. I always thought I was "fit" before from a societal view but have since realized there is much more to fitness and health. I am proud that I've stuck to reaching a goal and doing my best. This has taken perseverance and self-control and I'm proud I was able to do this!

I competed in the KY Muscle Fitness Comp and actually placed in the 40+ and 50+ Masters Bikini, Julie Lohre was instrumental in this!!

" I always thought I was 'fit' before from a societal view but have since realized there is much more to fitness and health. I am proud that I've stuck to reaching a goal and really feel like a fit grandma!"

Transformation to Fit Grandma

I began to notice a change in my leanness and tone in my upper body in about 6 weeks of Online Personal Training. Julie Lohre's meal plans and work out plans kept me on target and focused. My lower body has been more challenging for me, but hey...I'm a work in progress and wow, have I made progress!

What role does fitness play in your life?

Fitness is a sizeable portion of my life; I love the results! I actually wake up and think, "wow, what am I working out today".  To me, fitness is truly a lifestyle change.

What motivates you to lead a healthy lifestyle?

I am 53 years old woman and a fit grandma I desire to live a healthy and active lifestyle so I can be there for my grandson, Oliver. I have additional goals and travel I'd like to accomplish and being healthy will help me achieve them!

To stay motivated I like to set goals.  I am a goal setter by nature and I have found the older I become, I still want to be challenged. My family and friends are very supportive and I love the way my body looks at 53! I know this sounds cliché, but we are how we treat our bodies, what we eat, our activity and our thoughts...if you treat yourself better and are kind to yourself, you will love the way you feel.

What unique challenges have you faced in reaching your fitness goals?

I have hypothyroidism that makes my weight a little challenging as well as my energy levels. Having a balanced nutrition plan and a solid weight training plan has made all the difference in dealing with my hypothyroidism.

What are your fitness goals?

My short-term fitness goals would be to improve my cardiovascular health and to maintain my leanness/tone that I have developed. My longer-term fitness goals would be to become stronger and have more definition in my muscles.

Worst part of working with Julie Lohre

There is absolutely NO worst part of working with Julie! She is such an inspiration!

How do you balance nutrition and clean eating? Favorite clean eating foods or recipes?

I believe balance is the key to life and a successful meal plan, especially for women that want to be fit over 50. I will continue to utilize the recipes and number of meals/day that Julie Lohre has set for me. I find that meal planning a week ahead and then meal prepping, especially for crazy days at work, saves me time and keeps me on track. If I happen to sidetracked once, I don't freak out and just make an effort to put the nutrition back in balance.

I love stuffed peppers so I use a variety (green, red and yellow) and use ground turkey and brown rice for the stuffing. I use a variety of spices that include garlic, basil, Himalayan pink salt and pepper. I bake them till they are soft.

What does a typical workout look like for you?

I have a love/hate relationship with cardio. I really, really hate it but love how I feel when I'm done. Since I feel this way, Julie made sure to keep my cardio sessions short and efficient so we do the least amount of cardio necessary for me to reach my goals. I only do cardio about 3 times a week for 15-30 mins.  What I do love is lifting and that has really changed my body!  I lift for 5 days each week and each session is less than 50 mins.  Julie Lohre workouts are for the entire body and you just feel strong and fit when you are done! Also, I fit yoga in about 3 times a week.

"I would encourage women to build each other up and support each other. Societal pressures for women are very real... on how we should act, look or do. There is not a miracle age to start something, Truly, you are what you achieve."
