TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOU!
I’m a mom to two boys Ryder and Wyatt (ages 10 + 12) and happily married to my adventurous fun-loving husband Aaron. I’m VP of Brand at a wellness company called Lifeforce which is focused on health optimization. My professional career has for the most been working for brands and companies focused on sports, adventure, fitness and wellness. It’s an important part of who I am and I believe in connecting passion and purpose with my profession. I’ve been a lifelong athlete and spent many years as an endurance athlete focused on Ironman triathlons as well as marathons and ultra events. I’m very goal oriented and I love trying and learning new things. These days fun looks like trail running , mountain biking and surfing with my kids.

WHAT THINGS HAPPENED THAT LED YOU TO WORKING TOWARD YOUR FIT AND STRONG AT 50 TRANSFORMATION?
I was 48 an extremely unhappy in a miserable job and realizing that I was letting work take over my life. I was eating poorly or not eating at all and letting my workouts slip for the first time in my entire life. I knew my 50th birthday was around the corner and that I wanted to be proud and not ashamed of that birthday. I knew I wanted to wake up on my 50th birthday and feel stronger than I’ve ever felt in my life.
I also knew that fitness, strength and changing your body takes time and so I decided to get to work. I was tired of the way I was feeling and knew it wasn’t for me. I knew I wanted to try something different, to make a strong and fit at 50 transformation. All of my life I have participated in endurance sports but had never really dedicated time to strength training. I also knew that as an aging female it was incredibly important to make that shift in my life. We start to lose muscle mass at an increasing rate and I wanted to beat that!
WHAT ARE YOUR GREATEST FITNESS ACCOMPLISHMENTS?
I’ve run 12 marathons including two Boston Marathons, 3 full Ironman distance triathlons, and countless other endurance events. I dedicated 25+ years to endurance sport training and racing and I can honestly say I feel the strongest and fittest I have ever felt in my life after working a year and a half with Julie Lohre as my online personal trainer – and we are just getting started!
I don’t have any interest to compete athletically anymore but I never say never. I’m motivated to stay fit, healthy and strong so that I can play hard with my kids. When they are old enough to mountain bike in Moab (which is pretty soon) I want to make sure I am charging right along with them! I’d love to say I’d love to run marathons with my son who is a runner but at age 12 he’s already way too fast so I will be happy just being his forever cheerleader. My younger son is so strong so if he happened to express interest in an obstacle race at some point I’d jump in in with him in a heartbeat.

I have to say I was shocked at how quickly my body changed! Within 8 weeks, I had noticeable body composition results and that got me hooked. I don’t care what the scale says…I just care about my body composition and my strength gains. Julie helps you measure this along the way and results don’t lie.
I also was shocked at how my running speed has significantly improved without actually logging the usual miles and training that I have in the past. The strength work I have done has significantly increased my running pace and now has me wishing I started this process years ago when running was a priority. But overall it just reconfirms that the work that we are doing together is working.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE HARDEST PART OF YOUR FIT AND STRONG AT 50 TRANSFORMATION?
The hardest part for me was changing my diet. I’ve always gotten away with eating just about anything I want so I’ve never been disciplined with my eating. But once I committed to eating clean and working with a macro mindset I’ve never looked back. I feel SO MUCH BETTER everyday now.
Now the hard part of my fit and strong at 50 transformation is that our home gym doesn’t have weights heavy enough for me 🙂 I love working out at home but now need to make a decision on whether to upgrade everything at home or join a gym where I know I’ll always have access to whatever heavy weights I need.

Getting introduced to Beverly International UMP Protein has been a game changer for me. I’ve experimented with protein powders throughout my life but this one is so yummy and so easy on the stomach. It is a staple every day and I couldn’t live without it. I tell people about it all of the time!

There is no bad part!
One of the best parts of working with Julie Lohre is the variety of workouts she provides. Just when I think she’s delivered my favorite block ever a new program with something even better shows up. She’s constantly mixing it up so you never get bored and she’s so good about listening and learning about what your body needs.

I am so grateful for Julie. There are a lot of online trainers and coaches out there but she is different. She just gets it and meets you where you are and gets you where you need to be. There are a ton of motivation quotes that I love but right now this one speaks to me because this fitness journey is about me and for me. I am not doing it for anyone else and I prefer to stay focused on how it is making me feel. I also love the constant reminder to work harder. I get stronger each and every week. This doesn’t mean I’ve reached the end and should stay the course. This means I should always continue to challenge myself so I continue to grow.
